There was a minor upset in Stahnsdorf where 3rd placed TKS 49ers (5-3) were defeated by seventh ranked Vechta-2 (5-3) 75-70 on Sunday. Point guard Kevin Smit (182-1991) stepped up and scored 14 points, 7 rebounds and 4 assists for the winners and American guard JJ Culver (193-1997, college: WBU) chipped in 13 points and 7 rebounds. Culver is a former Eurobasket Summer League player, which is considered top international summer league in the market. The best for the losing side was Ukrainian point guard Andriy Kozhemiakin (190-1996, agency: BIG) with 32 points and 6 rebounds and Robin Jorch (211-1994, college: Boise St.) scored 11 points and 5 rebounds. Both coaches used bench players in such tough game. Vechta-2 moved-up to third place, which they share with 4 other teams including defeated TKS 49ers. Vechta-2 will meet at home Dragons Rhoendorf (#5) in the next round. TKS 49ers will play against Schwelm and hope to secure a win.
