Regular Season Round 9: Anadolu Efes - Pinar Karsiyaka 111-112

The most exciting game of round 9 in the BSL took place in Istanbul. This derby game ended with only one-point home defeat of 3rd placed Efes (6-3) to sixth ranked Pinar Karsiyaka (5-3) 112-111 on Sunday evening. Pinar Karsiyaka outrebounded Efes 46-30 including 21 on the offensive glass. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 22 assists. 24 personal fouls committed by Efes helped opponents get some easy free throw opportunities. The best player for the winners was American guard Errick McCollum (188-1988, college: Goshen) who scored 29 points, 6 rebounds and 7 assists. Colombian swingman Braian Angola-Rodas (198-1994, college: FSU) chipped in 31 points, 5 rebounds and 5 assists. At the other side the best for losing team was Serbian point guard Vasilije Micic (196-1994, agency: BeoBasket) who recorded 37 points (!!!) and 8 assists and American forward Will Clyburn (201-1990, college: Iowa St.) added 24 points, 6 rebounds and 4 assists respectively. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Efes' coach rotated ten players in this game, but that didn't help. Pinar Karsiyaka moved-up to fourth place, which they share with Darussafaka and Bursaspor. Efes at the other side keeps the third position with three games lost. Pinar Karsiyaka is looking forward to face Socar Petkim (#10) at home in the next round which should be theoretically an easy game. Efes' supporters also look forward to an exciting derby game next round, where their team will travel locally in Istanbul to the arena Besiktas.
