Regular Season Round 9: Targu Mures - Targoviste 85-50

Rather predictable result when ninth ranked Targu Mures (2-6) smashed at home bottom-ranked Targoviste (0-7) 85-50 on Saturday. Targu Mures dominated on the defensive end, holding Targoviste to just 7 points in second quarter. They dominated down low during the game scoring 52 of its points in the paint compared to Targoviste's 28. Targu Mures forced 26 Targoviste turnovers. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 23 assists. The best player for the winners was American guard Keilanei Cooper (175, college: UC Riverside, agency: DC Sports) who scored 31 points, 5 rebounds and 4 assists. Her fellow American import swingman Tazsa Garrett-Hammett (180, college: UWA) chipped in a double-double by scoring 25 points and 10 rebounds (on 10-of-12 shooting from the field). Targu Mures' coach felt very confident using 10 players and allowed the starting five to rest. At the other side the best for losing team was the former international swingman Alina Chivu (175-1990) who recorded 17 points and 8 rebounds and swingman Ana Ivan (174-2004) added 10 points and 5 rebounds respectively. Newly promoted Targu Mures maintains ninth place with 2-6 record. Targoviste lost their seventh game in a row. They still close the standings with seven games lost. Targu Mures will meet at home league's leader Sf.Gheorghe in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Targoviste will play against Rapid (#4) and hopes to get finally their first victory.
