Very important is a road loss of second ranked Bayern Muenchen (8-2) against fourth ranked Telekom Baskets (7-1) on Sunday night. Visiting Bayern Muenchen was defeated by Telekom Baskets in Bonn 78-68. It ended at the same time the five-game winning streak of Bayern Muenchen. Telekom Baskets made 23-of-29 charity shots (79.3 percent) during the game. Bayern Muenchen was plagued by 26 personal fouls down the stretch. American-North Macedonian point guard TJ Shorts (175-1997, college: UC Davis) stepped up and scored 21 points, 8 rebounds and 6 assists for the winners and American Jeremy Morgan (196-1995, college: UNI) chipped in 20 points (went 9 for 9 at the free throw line !!!). Shorts is a former Eurobasket Summer League player, which is considered top international summer league in the market. The best for the losing side was American point guard Cassius Winston (185-1997, college: Michigan St.) with 14 points and the former international point guard Isaac Bonga (204-1999) scored 8 points, 6 rebounds and 5 assists. Both coaches tested many bench players and allowed the starting five to rest. Telekom Baskets moved-up to third place. Bayern Muenchen at the other side keeps the second position with two games lost. Telekom Baskets will play against Hakro Merlins (#14) in Crailsheim in the next round which should be an easy win for them. Bayern Muenchen will play at home against Braunschweig (#16) and hopes to get back on the winning track.
