Leader Zalgiris delivered the eleventh victory on Sunday night. This time they crushed 10th ranked P.Zvaigzdes (3-8) 84-61 in Kaunas. Zalgiris dominated down low during the game scoring 52 of its points in the paint compared to P.Zvaigzdes' 28. They outrebounded P.Zvaigzdes 41-21 including a 30-14 advantage in defensive rebounds. Zalgiris looked well-organized offensively handing out 24 assists. Worth to mention a quality performance of the former international center Laurynas Birutis (213-1997) who helped to win the game recording 12 points and 9 rebounds (on 6-of-7 shooting from the field) and international Arnas Butkevicius (197-1992) who added 11 points and 7 rebounds during the contest. Five Zalgiris players scored in double figures. The best for the losing side was center Martynas Pacevicius (204-1997) with 20 points and Ignas Vaitkus (197-1993) scored 9 points. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Zalgiris have a solid four-game winning streak. They maintain first position with 11-1 record. P.Zvaigzdes lost fifth consecutive game. They keep the tenth place with eight games lost. Zalgiris will meet at home Lietkabelis (#5) in the next round.
