Very expected game in Eisenstadt where 12th ranked Nord Dragonz (2-8) was crushed by third ranked Gmunden Swans (8-3) 104-75 on Sunday. The game was mostly controlled by Gmunden Swans. Nord Dragonz managed to win fourth quarter 25-20. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Gmunden Swans dominated down low during the game scoring 54 of its points in the paint compared to Nord Dragonz's 34. They outrebounded Nord Dragonz 33-18 including a 26-14 advantage in defensive rebounds. Gmunden Swans shot the lights out from three sinking 13 long-distance shots on high 52.0 percentage. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 33 assists. Americans were the main players on the court. The best player for the winners was power forward Urald King (198-1990, college: SE Oklahoma) who had a double-double by scoring 21 points and 11 rebounds (on 9-of-10 shooting from the field). Forward Zach Charles (201-1995, college: EKU) chipped in 16 points and 6 rebounds. Five Gmunden Swans players scored in double figures. Forward Nick Allen (203-1997, college: UTSA) produced 24 points and 4 assists and guard Kyran McClure (188-1996, college: St.Leo) added 14 points and 10 assists respectively for the hosts. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. The victory was the third consecutive win for Gmunden Swans. They moved-up to second place, which they share with Wels and Oberwart. Nord Dragonz lost their fourth game in a row. Newly promoted team stay at the bottom position with eight games lost. Gmunden Swans will meet at home UBC St. Poelten (#6) in the next round. Nord Dragonz will play against the league's second-placed Gunners Oberwart (#2) and hope to secure a win.
