The game in Balikesir supposed to be also quite interesting. Second ranked Mersin (9-1) played at the court of 8th ranked Balikesir (5-5). Mersin smashed Balikesir 93-65 on Sunday. Mersin dominated down low during the game scoring 60 of its points in the paint compared to Balikesir's 36. They outrebounded Balikesir 46-30 including 36 on the defensive glass. Mersin looked well-organized offensively handing out 25 assists. American guard Tobin Carberry (193-1991, college: LIU Post) scored 20 points, 6 rebounds and 5 assists to lead the charge for the winners and Berkay Genc (205-1996) chipped in 18 points and 8 rebounds during the contest. Carberry is a former Eurobasket Summer League player, which is considered top international summer league in the market. Five Mersin players scored in double figures. At the losing side power forward Ali Isik (206-1990) responded with 14 points and 7 rebounds and Berke Aygunduz (196-1998) scored 6 points and 9 rebounds. Since the result was very predictable, it gave the chance for the coaches to test many bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Mersin have an impressive six-game winning streak. They keep a position of league leader, which they share with Cagdas BS. Loser Balikesir keeps the eighth place with five games lost.
