Regular Season Round 11: St.Poelten - Kapfenberg 86-80 OT

Kapfenberg Bulls (#9) forced the game against UBC St. Poelten (#6) into an overtime, but lost by six points 80-86 on Sunday night. The hosts took control from the first minutes by winning first half. But Kapfenberg Bulls won third quarter 23-16. However it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening, at least not yet. The game turned upside-down in the last quarter, where Kapfenberg Bulls used huge pressure winning it 17-13 getting a tie at the end of regular time. They lost eventually overtime period 4-10. UBC St. Poelten made 28-of-35 free shots (80.0 percent) during the game. The best player for the winners was American guard Mike Holton Jr (186-1990, college: St.Michael's) who scored 37 points (!!!). His fellow American import forward Chris Ferguson (206-1989, college: Mid-Continent) chipped in 8 points and 14 rebounds. Four UBC St. Poelten players scored in double figures. American forward Lesley Varner Jr (201-1998, college: UTRGV) produced 22 points and 7 rebounds and Serbian forward Nemanja Krstic (205-1993) added 22 points respectively for the guests. Kapfenberg Bulls' coach tested ten players, but that didn't help to avoid defeat in this game. UBC St. Poelten (6-5) moved-up to fifth place, which they share with UBSC Graz. Loser Kapfenberg Bulls keep the ninth position with eight games lost. They share it with Arkadia and Furstenfeld. UBC St. Poelten will meet higher ranked Gmunden Swans (#3) on the road in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Kapfenberg Bulls will play against Dukes (#7) and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
