Very expected game when 11th ranked Patriotes (1-8) was crushed on the road by first ranked Alytaus (9-1) 80-33 on Friday. Alytaus held Patriotes to an opponent 21.9 percent shooting from the field compared to 45.3 percent accuracy of the winners. Alytaus forced 28 Patriotes turnovers and outrebounded them 52-36 including a 32-21 advantage in defensive rebounds. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 28 assists comparing to just 11 passes made by Patriotes' players. The best player for the winners was forward Justina Leskauskaite (178-2002) who had a double-double by scoring 29 points, 10 rebounds, 4 assists and 4 steals (on 14-of-18 shooting from the field). The former international Rasa Zemantauskaite-Matla (176-1981) chipped in a double-double by scoring 22 points and 11 rebounds. At the other side the best for losing team was forward Deimante Naruseviciute (177-1983) who recorded 7 points and 8 rebounds and forward Justina Burbaite-Maciuliene (171-1986) added 7 points and 6 rebounds respectively. Patriotes' coach Andrius Vaicekauskas gave up on the game allowing to play ten players seeing no chance for a win. The victory was the ninth consecutive win for Alytaus. They maintain first place with 9-1 record. Loser Patriotes dropped to the twelfth position with eight games lost. Alytaus will meet Panevezio (#4) in the next round. Patriotes will play against Kibirkstis-MRU (#3) and hope to win that game.
