No shocking result in a game when second ranked Mersin (10-1) beat at home 7th ranked Sigortam.net (6-5) 70-60 on Friday. Mersin looked well-organized offensively handing out 22 assists. It was an exceptional evening for American guard Tobin Carberry (193-1991, college: LIU Post) who led the winners and scored 18 points. His fellow American import power forward Aaron Jones (206-1993, college: Ole Miss) accounted for 11 points and 7 rebounds for the winning side. Carberry is a former Eurobasket Summer League player, which is considered top international summer league in the market. Mersin's coach Semih Soguksu used an eleven-player rotation and allowed the starting five to rest. American center Eric Buckner (208-1990, college: Georgia St.) came up with 15 points, 6 rebounds and 5 assists and forward Umut Gecen (-1997) added 16 points respectively for Sigortam.net in the defeat. The victory was the seventh consecutive win for Mersin. They keep a position of league leader, which they share with Cagdas BS. Loser Sigortam.net dropped to the sixth place with five games lost. They share the position with Yalovaspor. Mersin will meet Antalya (#14) on the road in the next round which should be an easy win for them.
