There was a surprise result in Giessen where eleventh ranked Uni Baskets (6-6) edged higher ranked 46ers (7-5) 102-99 on Saturday. Uni Baskets shot 61.8 percent from the field. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 27 assists. The best player for the winners was American point guard Buzz Anthony (180-1998, college: RMC) who scored 28 points and 8 assists (went 10 for 10 at the free throw line !!!). Forward Marten Linssen (203-1998, college: St.Louis) chipped in 19 points and 5 rebounds. Uni Baskets' coach Steven Esterkamp used a ten-player rotation in such tough game. At the other side the best for losing team was American forward Justin Martin (199-1990, college: SMU) who recorded 22 points and Serbian forward Stefan Fundic (200-1994, agency: BeoBasket) added 20 points and 7 rebounds respectively. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Uni Baskets moved-up to ninth place, which they share with Karlsruhe PS. Loser 46ers keep the fourth position with five games lost. They share it with 4 other teams. Uni Baskets will meet at home higher ranked Artland Dragons (#6) in the next round and it may be quite challenging game. 46ers will play against the league's second-placed Tigers where they are definitely not considered as a favorite in this game either.
