Regular Season Round 11: Mustangs - Raiders 89-85

The biggest surprise took place in Mistelbach where host Mustangs (9-1) beat league's leader Raiders Tirol (9-2) 89-85 on Saturday evening. It ended at the same time the nine-game winning streak of Raiders Tirol. It was a key game for the top position in the league. The hosts took control from the first minutes by winning first half. But Raiders Tirol won third quarter 20-16. However it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Mustangs forced 19 Raiders Tirol turnovers. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 23 assists. 25 personal fouls committed by Raiders Tirol helped opponents get some easy free throw opportunities. The best player for the winners was forward Ian Moschik (203-1996) who had a double-double by scoring 16 points and 10 rebounds. Czech center Zdenek Nehyba (197-1995) chipped in 21 points. Slovenian guard Ziga Habat (193-1997, college: Highland, IL) produced a double-double by scoring 34 points (!!!), 12 rebounds, 7 assists and 5 steals and Slovenian guard Jernej Ledl (195-1997) added 18 points and 5 rebounds respectively for the guests. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Both coaches used bench players in such tough game. Mustangs have an impressive series of five victories in a row. They keep a position of league leader. Raiders Tirol at the other side dropped to the second place with two games lost. They share the position with BBU Salzburg. They were replaced at the leadership position by Mustangs. Raiders Tirol will play next round against Alligators trying to make it back to the top of the standings. Mustangs will try to continue on its current victory against fourth ranked Blackbirds in Jennersdorf.
