Regular Season Round 11: Koeln - Wolmirstedt 105-66

Wolmirstedt (#4) was upset in Koeln by eighth ranked RheinStars 105-66. RheinStars dominated down low during the game scoring 70 of its points in the paint compared to Wolmirstedt's 20 and made 20-of-23 charity shots (87.0 percent) during the game. RheinStars forced 26 Wolmirstedt turnovers. Their players were unselfish on offense dishing 25 assists comparing to just 12 passes made by Wolmirstedt's players. It was an exceptional evening for Canadian point guard Ali Sow (185-1998, college: Laurier) who led the winners and scored 33 points (!!!) and 4 assists (was perfect 9-for-9 from the free throw line !!!). Point guard Rupert Hennen (184-1997) accounted for 20 points and 7 assists for the winning side. Four RheinStars players scored in double figures. Leon Hoppe (197-2000) came up with 21 points and Lennard Winter (195-2000) added 7 points and 4 assists respectively for Wolmirstedt in the defeat. Since the result was very predictable, it gave the chance for the coaches to test many bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. RheinStars (6-5) moved-up to sixth place. Wolmirstedt at the other side dropped to the seventh position with four games lost. They share it with Vechta 2. RheinStars will play against higher ranked Dragons Rhoendorf (#3) on the road in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Wolmirstedt will play against the league's second-placed Sixers (#2) and hopes to get back on the winning track.
