Regular Season Round 14: Elazig Il - Elazig Karabulut 74-85

There was an upset when higher ranked Elazig Il (9-5) was defeated at home by ninth ranked Elazig Karabulut (7-7) 85-74 on Saturday. Elazig Karabulut made 19-of-25 free shots (76.0 percent) during the game. Strangely Elazig Il outrebounded Elazig Karabulut 48-33 including 17 on the offensive glass. The best player for the winners was American guard Ameryst Alston (175-1993, college: Ohio St.) who had a double-double by scoring 50 points (!!!) and 14 rebounds. Center Gulfer Tokatli (193-2002) chipped in 12 points and 6 rebounds. American center Channon Fluker (193-1997, college: CSUN) produced a double-double by scoring 17 points, 23 rebounds and 4 assists and Senay Sarisoy (-1990) added 15 points and 8 rebounds respectively for the hosts. Four Elazig Il players scored in double figures. Newly promoted Elazig Karabulut maintains ninth position with 7-7 record. Elazig Il at the other side keeps the fifth place with five games lost. They share the position with Kirklareli. Elazig Karabulut will meet at home higher ranked Bogazici (#8) in the next round and it may be quite challenging game. Elazig Il will play against Urla in Izmir and hope to secure a win and be promoted back to the KBSL just one year after relegation.
