There was no surprise in Ankara where 8th ranked Turk Telekom (3-7) was outplayed by sixth ranked Merkezefendi (5-5) 93-71 on Saturday. Merkezefendi dominated down low during the game scoring 50 of its points in the paint compared to Turk Telekom's 30. They outrebounded Turk Telekom 57-38 including 25 on the offensive glass. Merkezefendi looked well-organized offensively handing out 24 assists. Kelvin Livinus (-2006) fired a double-double by scoring 14 points and 17 rebounds for the winners. Forward Atahan Altiok (198-2004) chipped in 16 points. Four Merkezefendi players scored in double figures. Center Civan Catak (205-2004) produced 14 points and 9 rebounds and Erim Lif (-2005) added 21 points respectively for lost side. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Merkezefendi have a solid three-game winning streak. They moved-up to fifth place, which they share with Besiktas. Turk Telekom lost fifth consecutive game. They dropped to the seventh position with seven games lost. They share it with Buyukcekmece. Merkezefendi will meet at home league's leader Anadolu Efes in the next round and it may be quite challenging game. Turk Telekom will play against Tesvikiye (#8) and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
