Regular Season Round 22: Zalgiris II - Stekas 74-68

Everything went according to plan in Kaunas where second ranked Zalgiris II (18-2) beat 7th ranked Stekas (9-12) 74-68 on Saturday. However just six-point win is not that big difference and the fans of host team counted on more convincing victory. Zalgiris II outrebounded Stekas 37-23 including a 26-14 advantage in defensive rebounds. Center Motiejus Krivas (214-2004) fired 18 points and 6 rebounds for the winners. Gytis Nemeiksa (201-2001) chipped in a double-double by scoring 10 points and 11 rebounds. Four Zalgiris II players scored in double figures. Justas Sinica (203-1985) produced 17 points and Gediminas Povilauskas (195-1992) added 12 points (on 6-of-7 shooting from the field) respectively for lost side. Both coaches used bench players and allowed the starting five to rest. Zalgiris II maintains second position with 18-2 record behind leader Telsiai. Stekas lost third consecutive game. Newly promoted team keeps the seventh place with 12 games lost. They share the position with Atletas. Zalgiris II will meet at home bottom-ranked Neptunas-Akv. (#14) in the next round which should be an easy win for them. Stekas will play against Atletas (#8) and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
