Regular Season Round 13: Rytas - Siauliai 107-101

No shocking result in a game when second ranked Rytas (9-3) beat 7th ranked Siauliai (6-7) in Vilnius 107-101. However just six-point win is not that big difference and the fans of host team counted on more convincing victory. Rytas players were unselfish on offense dishing 23 assists. Siauliai was plagued by 27 personal fouls down the stretch. The former international Gytis Radzevicius (197-1995) stepped up and scored 21 points, 6 rebounds and 4 assists for the winners and the former international center Martynas Echodas (206-1997) chipped in 15 points and 9 rebounds (on 7-of-9 shooting from the field). At the losing side Serbian Nemanja Bezbradica (207-1993) responded with 24 points and the former international point guard Donatas Sabeckis (197-1992) scored 17 points and 5 assists. Five Rytas and four Siauliai players scored in double figures. Both coaches tested many bench players and allowed the starting five to rest. The victory was the sixth consecutive win for Rytas. Defending champion maintains second place with 9-3 record having four points less than leader Zalgiris. Siauliai at the other side keeps the seventh position with seven games lost. They share it with Nevezis. Rytas will play against Nevezis (#8) in Kedainiai in the next round which should be theoretically an easy game. Siauliai will play on the road against Jonava and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
