There was a small surprise when fifth ranked SG Braunschweig (8-4) beat one of their biggest challengers Goetting.ASC (8-4) in Goettingen 81-72 on Saturday. Point guard Jamil Hyangho (184-2003) notched a double-double by scoring 24 points, 10 rebounds and 6 assists to lead the effort and naturalized Turkish center Mertcan Gerhardt (202-2002) supported him with 20 points and 9 rebounds. Four SG Braunschweig players scored in double figures. Even 24 points, 6 rebounds and 9 assists by swingman Nick Boakye (197-1995) did not help to save the game for Goetting.ASC. Philipp Sprung (195-1994) added 22 points and 8 rebounds for the hosts. SG Braunschweig moved-up to fourth place, which they share with defeated Goetting.ASC. SG Braunschweig will meet at home league's second-placed Stade in the next round and it may be the game of the week. Goetting.ASC will play against Oldenburger TB and hope to secure a win.
