There was a small surprise in Sakiai where sixth ranked Mazeikiai (11-10) defeated one of their biggest challengers Vytis (13-7) 89-84 on Saturday. The former international swingman Arturas Jomantas (200-1985) fired 16 points, 8 rebounds, 6 assists and 6 steals for the winners. Point guard Sarunas Valunta (192-2000) chipped in 19 points (on 8-of-9 shooting from the field). Augustinas Mikstas (203-2001) produced 29 points and 6 rebounds and Eimantas Zilius (201-1999) added 20 points and 7 rebounds respectively for lost side. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Both coaches used bench players in such tough game. Mazeikiai moved-up to fifth place. Loser Vytis keeps the fourth position with seven games lost. Mazeikiai will meet at home Rytas 2 (#13) in the next round and are hoping to win another game. Vytis will play against Suduva-Mantinga (#3) and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
