No shocking result in a game when third ranked Raiffeisen Flyers Wels (9-3) defeated on the road 9th ranked Furstenfeld Panthers (3-9) 85-80 on Sunday. The guests trailed by 7 points at the halftime before their 53-41 charge in the second half, which allowed them to win the game. Raiffeisen Flyers Wels outrebounded Furstenfeld Panthers 32-18 including 24 on the defensive glass. Worth to mention a great performance of American forward Donovan Smith (207-1993, college: Quinnipiac) who helped to win the game recording 36 points (!!!) and 9 rebounds and Lithuanian forward Arvydas Gydra (206-1989) who added 22 points and 7 rebounds during the contest. The best for the losing side was American guard Steve Jr Robinson (165-1996, college: Mt.St.Mary's) with 27 points and 7 assists and Norwegian power forward Andrija Blatancic (201-1995, college: St.Cloud St.) scored 18 points and 8 assists. Four Furstenfeld Panthers players scored in double figures. Raiffeisen Flyers Wels have a solid three-game winning streak. They moved-up to second place. Furstenfeld Panthers lost third consecutive game. Newly promoted team dropped to the tenth position with nine games lost. They share it with Arkadia and Kapfenberg. Raiffeisen Flyers Wels will meet at home Gmunden Swans (#3) in the next round, which may be the game of the day. Furstenfeld Panthers will play against Gunners Oberwart (#4) and hope to secure a win.
