There was a minor upset in Istanbul where 7th ranked Buyukcekmece (3-7) was defeated by ninth ranked Fenerbahce (3-8) 66-55 on Sunday. Fenerbahce outrebounded Buyukcekmece 61-38 including a 46-24 advantage in defensive rebounds. Forward Arda Midye (200-2005) fired a double-double by scoring 13 points and 21 rebounds for the winners. Forward Jihad Elkhatib (203-2005) chipped in 20 points and 6 rebounds. Guard Can Kurt (180-2003) produced 15 points, 8 assists and 6 steals and Goksan Erdeger (-2004) added 6 points and 11 rebounds respectively for lost side. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Fenerbahce moved-up to eighth place, which they share with Bahcesehir. Buyukcekmece lost third consecutive game. They keep the seventh position with seven games lost. They share it with Turk Telekom. Fenerbahce will meet Manisa Izmir (#10) on the road in the next round. Buyukcekmece will play against Galatasaray and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
