Regular Season Round 23: Vytis - Zalgiris II 68-64

Round in NKL means a new league leader. The biggest surprise took place in Sakiai where host Vytis (14-8) beat league's leader Zalgiris II (19-5) 68-64 on Wednesday evening. Strangely Zalgiris II outrebounded Vytis 41-25 including 16 on the offensive glass. The best player for the winners was Augustinas Mikstas (203-2001) who scored 20 points and 5 rebounds. Guard Ernestas Jonkus (187-1999) chipped in 10 points and 7 assists. Gytis Nemeiksa (201-2001) produced a double-double by scoring 11 points and 10 rebounds and Dovydas Butka (202-2003) added 12 points and 6 rebounds respectively for the guests. Both coaches used bench players in such tough game. Vytis maintains fourth place with 14-8 record. Zalgiris II at the other side dropped to the third position with five games lost. They were replaced at the leadership position by Telsiai. Zalgiris II will play next round against Rytas 2 trying to make it back to the top of the standings. Vytis will try to continue on its current victory against fourteenth ranked Neptunas-Akv. in Klaipeda.
