There was a small surprise when seventh ranked Siauliai (7-7) defeated on the road 5th ranked Jonava (8-5) 82-74 on Thursday. The best player for the winners was the former international point guard Donatas Sabeckis (197-1992) who scored 19 points and 5 assists. Swingman Martynas Varnas (196-1997) chipped in 16 points and 4 assists. Siauliai's coach Antanas Sireika used a ten-player rotation and allowed the starting five to rest. American forward Jeff Garrett (201-1994, college: LSUS, agency: Players Group) produced a double-double by scoring 24 points, 11 rebounds and 5 blocks and Serbian center Goran Huskic (210-1992, college: Howard Col., TX) added 18 points and 4 assists respectively for the hosts. Siauliai maintains seventh position with 7-7 record. Jonava lost third consecutive game. They dropped to the sixth place with five games lost. Siauliai will meet P.Zvaigzdes (#10) in the next round. Jonava will play against Lietkabelis (#4) in Panevezys and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
