Regular Season Round 14: Sangalhos - CAB Madeira 82-81

Sangalhos has finally registered their first victory this season after 12 consecutive losses. They used home court advantage to defeat CAB Madeira (3-11) 82-81. Sangalhos made 17-of-19 charity shots (89.5 percent) during the game. They brought some defensive toughness making 7 blocks. Canadian guard Nikita Kasongo (193-1996, college: St.Mary's) notched 25 points and 5 rebounds (was perfect 11-for-11 from the free throw line !!!) to lead the effort and Angolan forward Leonel Paulo (197-1989) supported him with 21 points and 4 assists. Even 19 points and 6 rebounds by American guard Matt Johnson (193, college: Detroit) did not help to save the game for CAB Madeira. Forward Nuno Sa (200-1997) added 19 points for the guests. Four CAB Madeira players scored in double figures. Newly promoted Sangalhos maintains twelfth position with 1-12 record. CAB Madeira at the other side keeps the eleventh place with 11 games lost. Sangalhos will play against higher ranked Ovarense (#4) on the road in the next round and they do not belong to the favorites in that game. CAB Madeira will play against the league's second-placed Benfica (#2) and will have a slim chance for a victory.
