Regular Season Round 12: Miercurea Ciuc - Ploiesti CSM 77-99

There was no surprise when 9th ranked Miercurea Ciuc (2-9) was outleveled at home by fourth ranked Ploiesti CSM (8-3) 99-77 on Thursday. The game was mostly controlled by Ploiesti CSM. Miercurea Ciuc managed to win second period 26-17. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Ploiesti CSM shot the lights out from three sinking 17 long-distance shots on high 58.6 percentage. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 21 assists. The winners were led by Serbian center Veljko Brkic (206-1995) who scored that evening 15 points, 7 rebounds and 4 assists and Latvian Andris Misters (196-1992, college: Jacksonville) supported him with 18 points. Five Ploiesti CSM players scored in double figures. Even 17 points and 7 rebounds by Canadian Meshack Lufile (203-1992, college: Cape Breton) did not help to save the game for Miercurea Ciuc. Serbian Nemanja Manojlovic (197-1993) added 18 points and 5 rebounds. Since the result was very predictable, it gave the chance for the coaches to test many bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Ploiesti CSM have a solid three-game winning streak. They keep a position of league leader, which they share with Timisoara. Miercurea Ciuc lost fifth consecutive game. They dropped to the seventh place with nine games lost. They share the position with Focsani. Ploiesti CSM will meet at home Targu Mures (#8) in the next round and are hoping to win another game. Miercurea Ciuc will play against Targu Jiu and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
