Regular Season Round 15: Kirklareli - Edremit 84-83

A very close game took place in Kirklareli between Kirklareli and Edremit. Sixth ranked Kirklareli (10-5) got a very close home victory over 7th ranked Edremit (8-6). Kirklareli managed to escape with a 1-point win 84-83 on Friday evening. It ended at the same time the two-game winning streak of Edremit. Great defensive blocking was one of the keys in this match when Kirklareli made 8 blocks. It was a great evening for American guard Aliyah Mazyck (175-1996, college: USC) who led her team to a victory scoring 37 points (!!!) and 5 assists. The former international Saynur Tozlu (189-1986) helped adding 11 points, 10 rebounds, 4 assists and 4 blocks. Four Kirklareli players scored in double figures. Kirklareli's coach used a ten-player rotation in such tough game. The best for the losing side was American center Zakyia Weathersby (188-1998, college: UAB) with a double-double by scoring 26 points and 15 rebounds (on 10-of-12 shooting from the field) and Gizem Kumandanoglu (-1994) scored 21 points. Kirklareli moved-up to fifth place, which they share with Elazig Il. Loser Edremit keeps the seventh position with six games lost. Kirklareli will meet at home league's second-placed Fenerbahce G. in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Edremit will play against Izmit (#4) and hope to secure a win.
