Regular Season Round 12: Galati - Constanta 81-94

There was a minor upset when one of their biggest challengers Galati (6-5) lost at home to fifth ranked Constanta (5-4) 94-81 on Friday. The game was mostly controlled by Constanta. Galati managed to win second period 22-16. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Constanta well out of reach of Galati shooting 72.0 percent from the field. They outrebounded Galati 34-18 including a 30-9 advantage in defensive rebounds. It was a great shooting night for Constanta especially from behind the arc, where they had solid 53.3 percentage. The winners were led by American point guard Nate Johnson (193-1998, college: Xavier) who scored that evening 22 points and 8 assists (on 7-of-8 shooting from the field) and Lithuanian Vytenis Cizauskas (187-1992) supported him with 21 points and 5 assists (on 7-of-8 shooting from the field). Four Constanta players scored in double figures. Even 28 points and 6 rebounds by Serbian forward Nedeljko Prijovic (203-1996, college: Maine) did not help to save the game for Galati. Serbian guard Luka Mitrovic (191-1996) added 13 points. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Constanta moved-up to fourth place. Loser Galati keeps the third position with five games lost. They share it with Sibiu and Craiova. Constanta will meet at home Focsani (#7) in the next round. Galati will have a break next round.
