Regular Season Round 15: Elazig Karabulut - Bogazici 89-74

There was a small surprise when ninth ranked Elazig Karabulut (8-7) beat at home 7th ranked Bogazici (8-7) 89-74 on Saturday. They outrebounded Bogazici 41-30 including 16 on the offensive glass. It was a great evening for American guard Ameryst Alston (175-1993, college: Ohio St.) who led her team to a victory scoring 38 points (!!!), 7 rebounds and 9 assists. Center Gulfer Tokatli (193-2002) helped adding 16 points and 15 rebounds. Four Elazig Karabulut players scored in double figures. Elazig Karabulut's coach allowed to play the deep bench players saving starting five for next games. The best for the losing side was Ukrainian center Olena Stashchuk (192-1985) with a double-double by scoring 26 points and 13 rebounds and naturalized Swedish guard Maryam Gultekin (166-1990) scored 23 points and 6 assists. Elazig Karabulut moved-up to eighth place, which they share with defeated Bogazici. Elazig Karabulut will meet at home league's leader Tarsus in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Bogazici will play against Urla (#15) in Izmir and hope to secure a win.
