Regular Season Round 12: Bursa - Cankaya 61-95

There was a minor upset when higher ranked Bursa (4-8) was rolled over at home by thirteenth ranked Cankaya (4-8) 95-61 on Saturday. Cankaya dominated down low during the game scoring 52 of its points in the paint compared to Bursa's 32. They outrebounded Bursa 40-28 including 30 on the defensive glass. Cankaya looked well-organized offensively handing out 29 assists. The best player for the winners was American point guard Tyasha Harris (178-1998, college: S.Carolina) who had a double-double by scoring 28 points, 8 rebounds and 11 assists (perfect from downtown making all five shots). Croatian-American Shavonte Zellous (178-1986, college: Pittsburgh) chipped in a double-double by scoring 22 points, 11 rebounds and 4 assists. Four Cankaya players scored in double figures. At the other side the best for losing team was the former international forward Ozge Kavurmacioglu (187-1993) who recorded 25 points and 5 rebounds and forward Ferda Yildiz (183-1993) added 16 points and 6 rebounds respectively. Bursa's coach gave up on the game allowing to play ten players seeing no chance for a win. Cankaya moved-up to eighth place, which they share with 5 other teams including defeated Bursa. Bursa lost third consecutive game. Cankaya will meet at home Kayseri (#10) in the next round. Bursa will play against Besiktas in Istanbul and hope to secure a win.
