There was a small surprise when seventeenth ranked Bayreuth (3-8) beat at home 15th ranked Brose Bamberg (3-8) 92-86 on Monday. It was a great evening for American point guard Brandon Childress (183-1997, college: Wake Forest) who led his team to a victory scoring 24 points and 6 assists. Canadian Jackson Rowe (201-1997, college: CS Fullerton) helped adding 17 points. Bayreuth's coach Lars Masell used an eleven-player rotation which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. American guard Patrick Miller (185-1992, college: Tennessee St., agency: Slash Sports) responded with 15 points and 7 assists and Czech Jaromir Bohacik (198-1992, agency: Octagon Europe) scored 9 points, 8 rebounds and 4 assists. Four Brose Bamberg players scored in double figures. Bayreuth moved-up to fourteenth place, which they share with 3 other teams including defeated Brose Bamberg. Brose Bamberg lost third consecutive game. Bayreuth will meet at home higher ranked BG Goettingen (#7) in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Brose Bamberg will play against MLP Academics Heidelberg (#13) and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
