There was no surprise when 16th ranked Braunschweig (2-9) was defeated at home by seventh ranked BG Goettingen (6-4) 78-64 on Monday. It was a great evening for Norwegian point guard Harald Frey (188-1997, college: Montana St.) who led his team to a victory scoring 26 points. American Mark Smith (193-1999, college: Kansas St.) helped adding 13 points, 6 rebounds and 4 assists. Naturalized Croatian center Benedikt Turudic (207-1997, agency: AltusBasket) responded with 18 points and 5 rebounds (on 7-of-9 shooting from the field) and Brandon Tischler (200-2000) scored 14 points and 5 rebounds. BG Goettingen moved-up to sixth place, which they share with Chemnitz. Braunschweig lost fifth consecutive game. They dropped to the bottom position with nine games lost. BG Goettingen will meet Bayreuth (#14) on the road in the next round and are hoping to win another game. Braunschweig will play against ratiopharm Ulm (#11) and hope to secure a win.
