Regular Season Round 12: Akademik P. - Chernomorets 87-82

We should mention about the upset which took place in Plovdiv, where 7th ranked Chernomorets (5-7) lost to tenth ranked Akademik P. (3-9) in a road game 82-87. It ended at the same time the two-game winning streak of Chernomorets. Akademik P. players were unselfish on offense dishing 23 assists. Chernomorets was plagued by 24 personal fouls down the stretch. It was a good game for international Vasil Bachev (195-1992, college: Cuesta JC) who led his team to a victory with 21 points and 9 assists (went 10 for 10 at the free throw line !!!). Guard Aleksandar Milov (198-1995) contributed with 12 points and 5 rebounds for the winners. Five Akademik P. players scored in double figures. Akademik P.'s coach Jordan Yankov allowed to play the deep bench players in such tough game. Canadian point guard Munis Tutu (184-1996, college: Carleton) replied with a double-double by scoring 23 points, 5 rebounds and 11 assists and forward Georgi Boyanov (201-1993, college: USA) added 26 points and 7 rebounds in the effort for Chernomorets. Akademik P. maintains tenth position with 3-9 record. Chernomorets at the other side dropped to the sixth place with seven games lost. They share the position with Beroe. Akademik P. will play against higher ranked Yambol (#9) at home in the next round and it may be quite challenging game. Chernomorets will play against the league's leader Rilski where they are definitely not considered as a favorite in this game either.
