Regular Season Round 14: Nevezis - Rytas 84-86

A very close game took place in Kedainiai between Rytas and Nevezis. Third ranked Rytas (10-3) got a very close victory on the road over 9th ranked Nevezis (6-8). Rytas managed to escape with a 2-point win 86-84 on Wednesday evening. Guest team only slightly avoided a big embarassment. Rytas made 17-of-22 free shots (77.3 percent) during the game. Rytas outrebounded Nevezis 37-26 including 26 on the defensive glass. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 22 assists. The best player for the winners was the former international Gytis Radzevicius (197-1995) who had a double-double by scoring 19 points and 12 rebounds. American guard Marcus Foster (191-1995, college: Creighton) chipped in 18 points and 4 assists. Latvian guard Arturs Zagars (190-2000) produced 25 points and 6 assists and American guard Brad Davison (193-1999, college: Wisconsin) added 21 points and 5 assists respectively for the hosts. Four Nevezis players scored in double figures. Both coaches used bench players in such tough game. Rytas have an impressive seven-game winning streak. Defending champion moved-up to second place. Loser Nevezis keeps the ninth position with eight games lost. Rytas' supporters look forward to an exciting derby game next round, where their team will face at home their local rival from Vilnius Wolves.
