We cannot really consider it an upset in the game between close teams in Vilnius where one of their biggest challengers Wolves (9-5) was defeated by fifth ranked Lietkabelis (9-5) 86-80 on Wednesday. Lietkabelis forced 19 Wolves turnovers. The best player for the winners was Hungarian forward Gyorgy Goloman (211-1996, college: UCLA) who scored 21 points (on 8-of-9 shooting from the field). Croatian forward Zeljko Sakic (204-1988, agency: BeoBasket) chipped in 15 points. Five Lietkabelis players scored in double figures. International power forward Regimantas Miniotas (208-1996) produced 11 points and 8 rebounds and American guard Ahmad Caver (188-1996, college: ODU) added 11 points and 7 assists respectively for the hosts. Wolves' coach Rimas Kurtinaitis rotated ten players in this game, but that didn't help. Lietkabelis moved-up to fourth place, which they share with defeated Wolves. Lietkabelis will meet at home Jonava (#6) in the next round. Wolves' supporters look forward to an exciting derby game next round, where their team will travel locally in Vilnius to the arena Rytas.
