Regular Season Round 14: Dresden - Muenster 103-102

There was no surprise when 14th ranked Muenster (5-9) was edged by fourth ranked Titans (9-5) in Dresden 103-102 on Thursday. However just one-point win is not that big difference and the fans of host team counted on more convincing victory. Titans forced 19 Muenster turnovers. Strangely Muenster outrebounded Titans 49-32 including 34 on the defensive glass. Great defensive blocking was one of the keys in this match when Titans made 7 blocks. Center Georg Voigtmann (213-1994) notched 26 points, 6 rebounds, 5 assists and 4 blocks to lead the effort and swingman Lucien Schmikale (194-1997) supported him with 19 points and 7 rebounds. Five Titans players scored in double figures. Even a double-double of 20 points, 16 rebounds and 9 assists by the former international center Andreas Seiferth (209-1989, agency: LUMANI 10.7) did not help to save the game for Muenster. Icelandic guard Hilmar Petursson (190-2000, agency: Blacktop Management) added 21 points, 6 rebounds and 6 assists for the guests. Both coaches allowed to play bench players in such tough game. Titans moved-up to third place, which they share with Hagen. Muenster at the other side, also newcomer in the league, keeps the fourteenth position with nine games lost. Titans will meet Eisbaeren Bremerhaven (#13) on the road in the next round and are hoping to win another game. Muenster will have a break next round.
