There was a surprise result when thirteenth ranked Giessen Pointers (1-11) edged at home higher ranked Schwelm (6-7) 91-88 on Friday. Giessen Pointers shot 25 for 37 from the free-throw line, while Schwelm only scored five points from the stripe. American guard Jacob Ledoux (190-1997, college: UTPB) nailed 27 points and 5 rebounds for the winning side and David Amaize (193-2000) accounted for 18 points and 7 assists. Naturalized American Chris Frazier (182-1990, college: Dubuque) came up with 23 points and 5 rebounds and American Josh Boutte (198, college: Angelo St., agency: BIG) added 15 points and 8 rebounds respectively for Schwelm in the defeat. Five Giessen Pointers and four Schwelm players scored in double figures. Schwelm's coach Falk Moeller rotated ten players in this game, but that didn't help. Giessen Pointers maintains thirteenth place with 1-11 record. It was Schwelm's third loss in a row. They dropped to the eighth position with seven games lost. They share it with TKS 49ers. Giessen Pointers will meet higher ranked RheinStars (#3) in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory.
