Regular Season Round 13: Mersin - OGM Orman 90-84

Very expected game when 13th ranked OGM Orman (5-8) was defeated on the road by second ranked Mersin (12-1) 90-84 on Friday. However just six-point win is not that big difference and the fans of host team counted on more convincing victory. Mersin looked well-organized offensively handing out 28 assists. American guard Tobin Carberry (193-1991, college: LIU Post) stepped up and scored 24 points and 7 assists for the winners and Alp Karahan (193-1998) chipped in 14 points and 4 assists. Carberry is a former Eurobasket Summer League player, which is considered top international summer league in the market. Mersin's coach Semih Soguksu used an eleven-player rotation which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. At the losing side forward Hazer Avci (206-1987) responded with 27 points and 7 rebounds (on 11-of-14 shooting from the field) and Oguzhan Tosun (191-1996) scored 15 points and 8 assists. Five Mersin and four OGM Orman players scored in double figures. The victory was the ninth consecutive win for Mersin. They keep a position of league leader, which they share with Cagdas BS. Loser OGM Orman dropped to the eleventh place with eight games lost. They share the position with Mamak and Haremspor. Mersin will meet league's leader Cagdas BS in the next round and it will be for sure the game of the week. OGM Orman will play against Final Spor (#4) and hope to secure a win.
