There was no surprise when 6th ranked UBC St. Poelten (7-7) was crushed on the road by third ranked Gunners Oberwart (11-4) 75-52 on Thursday. The game was mostly controlled by Gunners Oberwart. UBC St. Poelten managed to win second period 11-4. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Gunners Oberwart made 18-of-23 free shots (78.3 percent) during the game. They also forced 23 UBC St. Poelten turnovers. The game was dominated by American players. It was a great evening for forward Brock Gardner (201-1997, college: Master's, agency: Players Group) who led his team to a victory scoring 18 points and 7 rebounds. Guard DJ Hanes (185-1995, college: Nebraska Chr., agency: One Motive Sports) helped adding 14 points and 4 assists. Gardner is a former Eurobasket Summer League player, which is considered top international summer league in the market. The best for the losing side was guard Kelvin Lewis (195-1988, college: Houston) with 17 points and 5 rebounds and forward Chris Ferguson (206-1989, college: Mid-Continent) scored 9 points and 9 rebounds. Gunners Oberwart have a solid series of three victories in a row. They maintain third place with 11-4 record having just two points less than leader Vienna. UBC St. Poelten at the other side keeps the sixth position with seven games lost. Gunners Oberwart will meet league's second-placed Gmunden Swans on the road in the next round and it will be for sure the game of the week. UBC St. Poelten will play against Nord Dragonz (#11) in Eisenstadt and hope to secure a win.
