Regular Season Round 23: Stekas - Atletas 81-83

Not a big story in a game in Vilnius where 10th ranked Stekas (9-15) was edged by seventh ranked Atletas (11-13) 83-81 on Thursday. Atletas looked well-organized offensively handing out 24 assists. It was a great evening for Tautvydas Baltrusaitis (204-2003) who led his team to a victory scoring 24 points and 5 rebounds. The former international center Egidijus Dimsa (205-1985) helped adding 15 points and 6 rebounds (on 7-of-9 shooting from the field). Atletas' coach used a ten-player rotation in such tough game. Point guard Augustas Suliauskas (180-1995, agency: Players Group) responded with 23 points and swingman Tadas Rinkunas (195-1991) scored 17 points and 5 rebounds. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Atletas maintains seventh place with 11-13 record. Stekas lost sixth consecutive game. Newly promoted team dropped to the ninth position with 15 games lost. They share it with Kretinga and Palanga. Atletas will meet at home Vilkaviskis (#12) in the next round which should be theoretically an easy game. Stekas will play against the league's second-placed Suduva-Mantinga and will have a slim chance for a victory.
