Very expected game when 6th ranked Steaua B. (5-7) was rolled over on the road by second ranked Oradea (11-1) 101-74 on Saturday. The game was mostly controlled by Oradea. Steaua B. managed to win fourth quarter 25-22. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Oradea forced 20 Steaua B. turnovers and outrebounded them 37-25 including a 26-15 advantage in defensive rebounds. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 26 assists. American forward Justin Carter (193-1987, college: Creighton) scored 9 points, 7 rebounds and 5 assists to lead the charge for the winners and the other American import forward Mark Ogden (206-1994, college: Utah Tech) chipped in 13 points and 8 rebounds during the contest. Four Oradea players scored in double figures. American forward James Farr (208-1992, college: Xavier) responded with 22 points and 8 rebounds and Serbian point guard Strahinja Jovanovic (185-1996) scored 14 points and 5 assists. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Oradea have an impressive ten-game winning streak. They maintain second position with 11-1 record having just three point less than leader Cluj Napoca. Loser Steaua B. keeps the sixth place with seven games lost. Oradea will meet league's second-placed Constanta on the road in the next round and it will be for sure the game of the week. Steaua B. will play against Voluntari (#3) and hope to secure a win.
