Regular Season Round 24: Suduva-Mantinga - Stekas 72-70

Very predictable result when third ranked Suduva-Mantinga (19-3) edged 10th ranked Stekas (9-15) in Marijampole 72-70 on Saturday. However just two-point win is not that big difference and the fans of host team counted on more convincing victory. The winners were led by Aurelijus Pukelis (205-1994) who scored that evening 27 points and 8 rebounds (on 10-of-13 shooting from the field) and point guard Aidas Kavaliauskas (186-1995, college: Fairfield) supported him with 18 points and 5 rebounds. Even 23 points and 6 rebounds (on 11-of-12 shooting from the field) by forward Karolis Brusokas (202-1991) did not help to save the game for Stekas. Swingman Tadas Rinkunas (195-1991) added 14 points and 4 assists. Suduva-Mantinga have an impressive eight-game winning streak. They moved-up to second place. Stekas lost sixth consecutive game. Newly promoted team dropped to the ninth position with 15 games lost. They share it with Kretinga and Palanga. Suduva-Mantinga will meet at home bottom-ranked Neptunas-Akv. (#14) in the next round which should be an easy win for them. Stekas will play against Vilkaviskis (#12) and hope to secure a win.
