Rather predictable result in Karlsruhe where tenth ranked Lions (9-7) beat 13th ranked Eisbaeren Bremerhaven (6-10) 99-82 on Saturday. Lions dominated down low during the game scoring 40 of its points in the paint compared to Eisbaeren Bremerhaven's 20 and made 26-of-32 free shots (81.3 percent) during the game. Lions forced 26 Eisbaeren Bremerhaven turnovers. Strangely Eisbaeren Bremerhaven outrebounded Lions 36-22 including a 27-16 advantage in defensive rebounds. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 24 assists. Worth to mention a great performance of American point guard Lovell Cabbil (188-1997, college: Liberty) who helped to win the game recording 16 points and 7 assists and center Maurice Pluskota (209-1992, agency: Octagon Europe) who added 16 points and 7 rebounds during the contest. Cabbil is a former Eurobasket Summer League player, which is considered top international summer league in the market. Five Lions players scored in double figures. At the losing side Slovakian point guard Simon Krajcovic (188-1994, college: LMU) responded with a double-double by scoring 14 points, 5 rebounds and 11 assists and New Zealand forward Matt Freeman (207-1997, college: UCSB) scored 22 points and 6 rebounds. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Lions have a solid three-game winning streak. They moved-up to seventh place, which they share with 3 other teams. Eisbaeren Bremerhaven lost third consecutive game. They dropped to the fourteenth position with ten games lost. Lions will meet Duesseldorf (#17) on the road in the next round and are hoping to win another game. Eisbaeren Bremerhaven will play against Falcons and hope to secure a win.
