Regular Season Round 24: Kretinga - Mazeikiai 63-77

No shocking result in a game when fifth ranked Mazeikiai (13-10) beat on the road 9th ranked Kretinga (9-15) 77-63 on Saturday. The winners were led by Karolis Guscikas (206-1992, agency: BIG) who had that evening a double-double by scoring 21 points and 13 rebounds and the former international Mindaugas Motuzas (202-1996) supported him with 14 points. Even 18 points and 5 rebounds (on 7-of-9 shooting from the field) by Raidas Nacius (197-1991) did not help to save the game for Kretinga. Center Rytis Zabita (199-1994) added 13 points and 7 rebounds. Four Kretinga players scored in double figures. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Mazeikiai have a solid three-game winning streak. They maintain fifth position with 13-10 record. Loser Kretinga keeps the ninth place with 15 games lost. They share the position with Palanga and Stekas. Mazeikiai will meet at home league's leader Telsiai in the next round and it may be quite challenging game. Kretinga will play against Zalgiris II (#3) in Kaunas and hope to secure a win.
