Regular Season Round 15: Hoverla - Polit-Halychyna 56-92

The game between closely ranked teams ended with fifth ranked Polit-Halychyna's (6-7) road victory over 6th ranked Hoverla (5-10) 92-56 on Thursday. The game was mostly controlled by Polit-Halychyna. Hoverla managed to win fourth quarter 14-11. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Polit-Halychyna dominated down low during the game scoring 54 of its points in the paint compared to Hoverla's 26. Polit-Halychyna forced 21 Hoverla turnovers. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 28 assists comparing to just 12 passes made by Hoverla's players. It was a great evening for point guard Mykhailo Horobchenko (185-1998, agency: BIG) who led his team to a victory with a double-double by scoring 25 points, 6 rebounds and 15 assists. Forward Vladlen Berezhnyy (199-1995) helped adding 19 points and 10 rebounds. The best for the losing side was center Stepan Lesyk (205-2002) with 11 points and 7 rebounds and power forward Ilya Chugunov (200-1997) scored 11 points. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Newly promoted Polit-Halychyna maintains fifth place with 6-7 record. Hoverla lost their third game in a row. Hoverla at the other side, also newcomer in the league, keeps the sixth position with ten games lost. Polit-Halychyna will meet at home higher ranked Kyiv Basket (#3) in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Hoverla will play against Cherkasy and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
