Very expected game when 9th ranked MBC (6-8) was smashed by fourth ranked EWE Baskets (10-5) in Oldenburg 108-68 on Saturday. EWE Baskets made 21-of-23 free shots (91.3 percent) during the game. They also forced 20 MBC turnovers. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 22 assists. It was an exceptional evening for Alen Pjanic (202-1997) who led the winners and scored 31 points and 7 rebounds. American Trey Drechsel (198-1996, college: GCU) accounted for 22 points, 5 rebounds and 8 assists for the winning side. Five EWE Baskets players scored in double figures. American point guard Charles Callison (185-1995, college: WSU, agency: Slash Sports) came up with 27 points and the former international Kostja Mushidi (195-1998) added 13 points and 5 assists respectively for MBC in the defeat. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. EWE Baskets maintains fourth place with 10-5 record. Loser MBC dropped to the tenth position with eight games lost. They share it with Crailsheim. EWE Baskets will meet league's second-placed Telekom Baskets in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. MBC will play against ratiopharm Ulm (#12) and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
