Not a big story in a game in Istanbul where 8th ranked Cankaya (6-9) was rolled over by third ranked Galatasaray (12-3) 83-57 on Saturday. Galatasaray outrebounded Cankaya 41-28 including a 30-18 advantage in defensive rebounds. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 26 assists. The best player for the winners was American center Azura Stevens (198-1996, college: UConn) who scored 27 points and 7 rebounds (on 11-of-14 shooting from the field). The former international center Teaira McCowan (201-1996, college: MSU) chipped in 19 points and 8 rebounds. At the other side the best for losing team was American center Queen Egbo (190-2000, college: Baylor) who recorded 19 points and 6 rebounds and Croatian-American Shavonte Zellous (178-1986, college: Pittsburgh) added 11 points respectively. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. The victory was the fifth consecutive win for Galatasaray. They moved-up to second place, which they share with Fenerbahce. Loser Cankaya dropped to the ninth position with nine games lost. Galatasaray's supporters look forward to an exciting derby game next round, where their team will travel locally in Istanbul to the arena Besiktas.
