Very expected game when 11th ranked Gargzdu (2-14) was edged by sixth ranked Jonava (9-6) in Gargzdai 69-68 on Sunday. The winners were led by American forward Jeff Garrett (201-1994, college: LSUS, agency: Players Group) who scored that evening 24 points and 9 rebounds and Serbian center Goran Huskic (210-1992, college: Howard Col., TX) supported him with 15 points, 5 rebounds and 6 assists. Even 13 points and 7 assists by American point guard Josh Newkirk (185-1994, college: Indiana) did not help to save the game for Gargzdu. His fellow American import forward JyLan Washington (206-1997, college: Tennessee St.) added 11 points for lost side. Four Gargzdu players scored in double figures. Gargzdu's coach Paulius Juodis tried various players' combinations and tested in total eleven players in this game, but that didn't help. Jonava maintains sixth position with 9-6 record. Newly promoted Gargzdu keeps the eleventh place with 14 games lost. Jonava will meet league's leader Zalgiris in the next round and they do not belong to the favorites in that game. Gargzdu will play against P.Zvaigzdes (#10) and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
