There was a surprise result when fourteenth ranked Eisbaeren Bremerhaven (7-10) defeated at home higher ranked Falcons (9-8) 88-82 on Sunday. Eisbaeren Bremerhaven made 16-of-21 free shots (76.2 percent) during the game. Eisbaeren Bremerhaven outrebounded Falcons 35-22 including 25 on the defensive glass. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 25 assists. American guard Matt Frierson (185-1997, college: Citadel) nailed 24 points (perfect behind the arc making all eight shots !!!) for the winning side and center Robert Oehle (209-1988) accounted for 13 points and 10 rebounds. Eisbaeren Bremerhaven's coach Steven Key used a ten-player rotation saving starting five for next games. American forward Rocky Kreuser (206-1999, college: NDSU) came up with 20 points and 7 rebounds and the other American import point guard Thomas Wilder (190-1995, college: W.Michigan) added 16 points respectively for Falcons in the defeat. Four Falcons players scored in double figures. Eisbaeren Bremerhaven moved-up to twelfth place, which they share with Muenster and Jena. Loser Falcons keep the seventh position with eight games lost. They share it with 3 other teams. Eisbaeren Bremerhaven will again meet higher ranked Falcons (#7) in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Falcons will have a break next round.
