Regular Season Round 12: VKM - Birzu 103-84

Very expected game when 10th ranked Birzu (2-9) was smashed by second ranked VKM (8-2) in Vilniaus 103-84 on Sunday. The game was mostly controlled by VKM. Birzu managed to win fourth quarter 26-21. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. They outrebounded Birzu 61-37 including a 23-10 advantage in offensive rebounds. VKM looked well-organized offensively handing out 25 assists. Great defensive blocking was one of the keys in this match when VKM made 8 blocks. The winners were led by swingman Arturas Vilutis (193-2005) who had that evening a double-double by scoring 20 points, 12 rebounds and 4 assists and forward Kasparas Sumskis (199-2005) supported him with 13 points and 6 rebounds. Five VKM players scored in double figures. Even 29 points, 7 rebounds and 4 assists by guard Dovydas Kacinskas (185-2005) did not help to save the game for Birzu. Point guard Nojus Petraitis (178-2005) added 28 points, 5 rebounds and 4 assists. VKM maintains second position with 8-2 record having just eighteen point less than leader VKKM. Loser Birzu keeps the tenth place with nine games lost. VKM will meet Marijampoles (#11) on the road in the next round and are hoping to win another game. Birzu will play against Perkunas and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
