Regular Season Round 15: Mersin - Gemlik 83-70

Not a big story in a game when 14th ranked Gemlik (3-12) was defeated on the road by second ranked Mersin (13-2) 83-70 on Sunday. Mersin forced 20 Gemlik turnovers. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 26 assists. Great defensive blocking was one of the keys in this match when Mersin made 9 blocks. The best player for the winners was Ogulcan Baykan (196-1996) who scored 20 points. The former international point guard Kevin Kaspar (183-1992, college: WKU) chipped in 11 points and 5 rebounds. At the other side the best for losing team was American guard Jeremy Sheppard (185-1997, college: URI, agency: Mansfield and Associates) who recorded 16 points, 6 rebounds and 8 assists and Batin Tuna (197-2003) added 10 points and 11 rebounds respectively. Four Gemlik players scored in double figures. Both coaches tested many bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Mersin used an opportunity after Cagdas BS lost their game and moved up joining them at the top position. Gemlik at the other side keeps the fourteenth place with 12 games lost. Mersin will meet at home Kocaeli (#12) in the next round which should be an easy win for them. Gemlik's supporters look forward to an exciting derby game next round, where their team will travel locally in Bursa to the arena Final Spor.
